Check that you own Java Edition
You need a Minecraft Java Edition account and the official Minecraft Launcher. This is not a Bedrock map. No commands or world creation are needed.
What to click / do
Open the launcher and check Java Edition access. Required environment: Minecraft 26.2, Fabric Loader 0.19.5, Fabric API 0.158.0+26.2 and Java 25. The launcher normally provides Java; do not download another runtime first.
Check: You have Java Edition and the official launcher. Next, install Fabric.
Close Minecraft and Minecraft Launcher, then open the official Fabric download page below.
What to click / do
Choose Download for Windows and open the EXE. Select Client, Minecraft Version 26.2 and Loader Version 0.19.5. Keep the default install location, check Create Profile and click Install.
Once public downloads open, get stitchtown-v1.0.0-manual.zip. If you already received the candidate bundle, continue below.
What to click / do
In File Explorer, right-click the ZIP → Extract All, then open the extracted folder.
Manual bundle not yet available
Check: You see mods, saves and installation instructions. The bundle includes both StitchTown and Fabric API. Do not extract the JAR files or use the ZIP as a resource pack.
Create a new empty folder in File Explorer and remember its full path.
What to click / do
For example, D:\Minecraft\StitchTown. Without a D drive, use C:\Minecraft\StitchTown or another writable location. The field below only records your choice; it does not create folders.
Shown only on this page; never uploaded or saved. Reloading resets it. If copying fails, select and copy the text manually.
Check: The File Explorer address bar shows your chosen full path. Do not use a development project folder or compare only the final folder name.
Check: Check the two JARs and level.dat against the tree above. The parent of level.dat is StitchTown-v1.0.0, whose parent is saves. Avoid extra saves\saves or manual\saves layers. Keep all other world files.
Name it “StitchTown”, select fabric-loader-0.19.5-26.2, then enter or browse to the full path from step 3 in Game Directory. Save.

Check: Game Directory exactly matches the folder containing mods and saves. Select the game folder itself, not mods, saves or the world folder. Compare the drive and every parent folder.
Return to Play, select your “StitchTown” installation and launch it.
What to click / do
Main menu → Singleplayer → StitchTown v1.0.0 → Play Selected World. Do not create a world, enter a seed or enable commands.
Check: You see the StitchTown world. Reaching the Minecraft main menu alone does not verify the mod; gameplay needs a separate check. If Create New World appears immediately, cancel and use troubleshooting below.
When finished, choose Save and Quit to Title in the game.
What to click / do
Next time, launch the same “StitchTown” installation and select the same world.
Check: Keep your existing progress. Do not reinstall Fabric, download again or overwrite the world. The initial world starts a new game; it is not a progress-preserving update.
Cancel; do not create a world. Close the game and check for the world and level.dat inside saves in the selected Game Directory. Correct the path and restart.
level.dat exists, but the world is missing
Compare the entire File Explorer address with Game Directory. Two folders called StitchTown on different drives or under different parents are not the same folder.
The world is nested too deeply
Check for saves\StitchTown-v1.0.0\level.dat. Move the complete world folder to the correct level without deleting its contents. Back up existing worlds and avoid overwriting.
The Fabric installation is missing
Check that the launcher was closed during installation and Create Profile was checked. Reopen it and check the Installations version filters include Modded (labels vary by language). Consult the official guide if it remains missing.
Missing Fabric API or mod message
Check the same Game Directory’s mods folder for both JARs and the exact versions in the tree. Copy them from the manual bundle; do not extract JARs.
Incompatible Java or launch failure
Keep the error message and confirm Minecraft 26.2 is using Java 25. Under Installations → Edit → More Options, check whether Java Executable was manually changed. Prefer the launcher-provided runtime; never copy someone else’s computer path.
I have progress and want to update
Close the game and back up the entire game folder. The initial bundle is not an updater. No progress-preserving update flow is verified; do not overwrite saves.

Updating an existing world
Close the game and make a complete world backup before updating. Instructions for preserving progress are still pending; wait for guidance for your version.
